Watch out – the Chinese banks are coming!
We bet you are not the only nor the first one who gets confused by the “I” (stands for International) following the names of Chinese banks - BOCI, CCBI, ICBCI, ABCI, BOCOMI - and maybe more to come.
No doubt it reflects the ambitions of these Chinese banks to get themselves more visible out of their home market, though some of them are already among the biggest banks in the world by criterias like market cap, assets, profit, etc.
Hong Kong, being China’s offshore financial centre, has been picked up naturally as the base for these bank to drive their growth in oversea. So how they are doing in terms of attracting, hiring and retaining people, the most valuable asset in financial industry?
We have interviewed with a lot of candidates who work or worked with Chinese banks (most of them also have experience working for foreign banks) at both manager and producer levels. They shared their views about the pros and cons of working for a Chinese bank.
